Boy drowns in Tons River, another critical in Prayagraj

Prayagraj: A tragic incident occurred on Friday when an eight-year-old child drowned and another is in critical condition after the two went to bathe in the Tons River under the Meja police station jurisdiction.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Arpit (8), and Shivam (7), were playing near the riverbank when they lost their balance and slipped into deep water.

Hearing the commotion, local residents and fishermen rushed to the scene and immediately jumped into the river to rescue the children. Both were pulled out and taken to the Community Health Centre in Ramnagar.

While one was declared dead on arrival, the other child, who was in critical condition, received emergency treatment and was later referred to a private hospital, where he is currently admitted.

Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh visited the bereaved family to offer condolences. Several local leaders, including those of the Samajwadi Party, were also present.
