The principal sessions court in Chennai has denied bail to nine men arrested in connection with the illegal release of actor-politician Vijay's uncertified movie 'Jana Nayagan'. A high-definition copy of the film was leaked online and widely circulated through social media platforms.
Court's Decision on Bail
Principal sessions judge S Karthikeyan stated, 'A thorough investigation is required to unearth the entire network of conspiracy. Considering the allegations and the current stage of investigation, this court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners.'
Details of the Accused
A total of 21 persons are accused in the case. The bail petitions were filed by Srinath, Sanjay, Balakrishnan, Manigandan, Ruthran, Rajesh, Prasanth, Selvam, and Rajini.
How the Leak Occurred
According to the prosecution, the movie was shared through a Google link uploaded by Balakrishnan on his social media page. Subsequently, Balakrishnan and his team downloaded the movie onto a pen drive and shared it with other accused individuals.
The court's decision emphasizes the seriousness of the offense and the need to uncover the entire network involved in the conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings are expected.
