Riya Shibu: From 21-Year-Old Producer of Vikram's Film to Sarvam Maya's Scene-Stealer
Meet Riya Shibu: Producer & Star of Sarvam Maya

The massive success of director Akhil Sathyan's Sarvam Maya has not only marked a powerful comeback for actor Nivin Pauly but has also catapulted a multi-talented young star into the limelight. While the film's impressive global collection of Rs 44 crore in just five days is making waves, audiences are equally enchanted by the performance of Riya Shibu, who played the bubbly ghost 'Delulu'.

Who Is Riya Shibu? The Prodigy Behind the Scenes

At just 21 years old, Riya Shibu is already a formidable name in South Indian cinema, but not just for her acting. She is an established film producer with an impressive portfolio. The daughter of renowned producer-distributor Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films, cinema runs in her blood. Her family's banner has backed notable projects like Dulquer Salmaan's ABCD, Vijay's Puli, and Vikram's Iru Mugan.

Riya first gained popularity as a social media sensation on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. However, she swiftly transitioned to film production, making her debut by bankrolling the Tamil action drama Thugs (2023), a remake of the Malayalam hit Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil. The film starred her brother, All We Imagine as Light actor Hridhu Haroon, and Anaswara Rajan.

A Producer's Portfolio: From Vikram to Box Office Hits

Riya Shibu's production journey accelerated rapidly. In 2023, she also co-produced Mumbaikar, featuring Vikrant Massey and Vijay Sethupathi. Her most significant project to date arrived in 2025: director SU Arun Kumar's Veera Dheera Sooran: Part – 2, starring Vikram, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over Rs 63.45 crore worldwide.

Vikram himself expressed admiration for the young producer. During a promotional event, he recalled being blown away by her energy and professionalism, questioning how someone so young could accomplish so much.

Stepping Into the Spotlight: The Sarvam Maya Breakthrough

While producing was her first forte, Riya always harbored acting ambitions. Her acting debut came in the 2024 Malayalam film Cup opposite Mathew Thomas, though it failed to make a mark. Sarvam Maya is her second acting venture, and it has proven to be the turning point. Her portrayal of the lively ghost Delulu has resonated deeply with audiences, making her one of the most talked-about aspects of the film.

Beyond the sets, Riya remains a social media influencer with a strong following of over 6.92 lakh on Instagram. An alumna of Trivandrum International School and Loyola College, Chennai, where she studied Visual Communication, she represents a new generation of cinema professionals who are equally adept at business, creativity, and connecting with the digital audience.

The success of Sarvam Maya has firmly positioned Riya Shibu as a dual threat in the industry—a savvy producer with a keen eye for projects and a promising actor with undeniable screen presence. Her journey is a testament to the evolving landscape of Malayalam and South Indian cinema, where young talents are rewriting the rules.
