Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan and Hollywood star Tom Holland landed in Mumbai on Friday for the India premiere of their upcoming epic action drama The Odyssey. The film, based on Homer's classic tale, is the first Christopher Nolan movie to have an official premiere in India.
Arrival and Hotel Reception
Videos on social media showed Holland arriving at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where he waved at photographers before entering. Nolan, accompanied by his wife and producer Emma Thomas, was also seen entering the hotel. Nolan has visited India multiple times and previously shot parts of his 2020 film Tenet in Mumbai.
Global Premiere Tour
Nolan, Thomas, Holland, and Matt Damon are in Mumbai as part of the film's global premiere tour. Universal Pictures International designated Mumbai as an official stop alongside London, Paris, and New York. The India premiere will be held at PVR Icon IMAX at Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai on Saturday.
Film Details and Cast
Written and directed by Nolan, The Odyssey is based on Homer's epic of Odysseus's decade-long journey home after the fall of Troy. Damon stars as the Greek hero Odysseus, while Holland plays his son, Telemachus. The ensemble cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Samantha Morton.
Technical Innovation and Release
Shot across multiple countries using newly developed IMAX film technology, The Odyssey is the first feature film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. Produced by Nolan and Thomas under their Syncopy banner, the film is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on July 17.
