KBC 17: Agastya Nanda Calls Show 'PTM', Big B Reveals He Knew Grandson Would Act
Agastya Nanda on KBC 17: Felt Like a 'PTM' with Grandfather Amitabh

The latest episode of the beloved quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 turned into a special family and film affair. The hot seat was occupied by the star cast of the upcoming film 'Ikkis', including director Sriram Raghavan and actors Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia. The episode was filled with heartfelt revelations, light-hearted teasing, and a glimpse into the bond between host Amitabh Bachchan and his grandson, Agastya.

A Grandfather's Tease and a Grandson's Nerves

As the episode began, a moment of familial warmth unfolded. When Agastya Nanda was seen adjusting his co-actor Simar Bhatia's pallu on the chair, host Amitabh Bachchan playfully pulled his leg. "Zindagi mein humne aapko ye pehli baar karte hue dekha hai," Big B remarked with a smile. The casual banter set the tone for an episode where professional and personal worlds collided.

Agastya openly expressed his nerves, comparing the experience to a 'Parents-Teacher Meeting' (PTM). He told director Sriram Raghavan, "Ye naa sirf mere naana hain, host hain show ke, aur aap director hai, ab ye yahan baith ke mujhe questions answers puchenge. Ye toh sabse zyaada struggle hoga mere liye." Simar also complained to Big B that Agastya had tried to scare her backstage about maintaining decorum, to which the megastar reassuringly asked her to just be herself.

Revelations About Casting and a Destiny Foretold

The conversation took a nostalgic turn as director Sriram Raghavan shared how he finalized Agastya for 'Ikkis'. He revealed that one day, seeing Agastya in his office reminded him of a young Amitabh Bachchan from the film 'Saat Hindustani'. This observation seemed to hint at a destined path.

This was further confirmed when Simar asked Big B about his reaction to Agastya wanting to be an actor. Before Bachchan could answer, Agastya quipped, "Koi reaction nahi tha." However, the legendary actor narrated a telling incident. "After seeing him, I knew one thing for sure that he was not going to join his father’s business in Delhi," he shared. Big B recalled a time when Agastya wrote, acted in, and shot a scene on his own camera. "I had seen it, though he didn’t know that. From that moment, I was certain this was the path he would choose," he said, praising Agastya's wholehearted dedication.

When asked if he ever gave Agastya acting tips, Big B said there was never a need. Agastya, however, cherished one simple piece of advice given casually at the dining table: to focus on his craft as it connects an actor to the audience. "It ended up changing his life," he shared. Amused by the praise, Big B told his grandson, "Beta ghar chalo bataunga tumko."

Family Surprises and Tricky Questions

Agastya also gave fans a peek into the difference between the on-screen and off-screen Amitabh Bachchan. "Nana yahan aake alag rehte hain. Ghar par kaafi serious rehte hain," he said, adding that he was enjoying seeing this lighter side of his grandfather on set.

He found himself in a classic dilemma when a fan asked him to choose between his favourite 'naana' or 'naani'. After initially avoiding the question and insistence from Big B, Agastya diplomatically said, "For today, I’ll say naana," later clarifying that he loves both equally.

The episode concluded on a sweet surprise as Simar introduced special guests. Agastya's mother, Shweta Bachchan, and sister, Navya Naveli Nanda, joined the show, adding another layer of family warmth to the entertaining evening. Amidst the fun, the game continued, with the team correctly answering their first question for Rs. 5000, identifying 'Shaurya' as the word similar in meaning to 'Bahaduri'.
