The Delhi government has formally established the Board of Homeopathic System of Medicine to strengthen policymaking and promote alternative medicine in the national capital. The board will be chaired by Dr Anil Goyal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from the Krishna Nagar constituency in east Delhi.
Statutory Body Under Delhi Homoeopathic Act
According to a notification issued by the government, the board is constituted under sub-section (2) of Section 3 of the Delhi Homoeopathic Act, 1956 (Delhi Act No 11 of 1956), read with the Delhi Homoeopathic (Amendment) Act 1996 (Delhi Act no 11 of 1996). The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has approved the establishment of this statutory body.
The Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine plays a crucial role in regulating and promoting the practice of homeopathy in the city. It is entrusted with ensuring professional standards among practitioners, handling the registration of qualified homeopathic doctors, and maintaining the official State Register of Homoeopathic Practitioners.
