Goa Ayurveda Hospital Faces Complaint for Operating Without Licences
Goa Ayurveda Hospital Operating Without Licences Faces Complaint

The Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine has lodged a formal complaint against an ayurveda hospital and panchakarma centre located in Porvorim. The council alleges that the facility is functioning without the requisite statutory licences mandated by law.

Details of the Complaint

Dr Sneha Bhagwat, President of the Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine, stated that during an inspection of the hospital, officials discovered that the doctors practising there were not registered with the Goa Ayurvedic Council, with the exception of two local practitioners. Dr Bhagwat has submitted a complaint to the North Goa Superintendent of Police, the North Goa Collector, and the health department, urging stringent action against the hospital and a suspension of its operations until all necessary licences, registrations, and statutory permissions are secured.

Violations Found During Inspection

The inspection revealed multiple violations, including the performance of panchakarma and naturopathy treatments and the dispensing of medicines without a valid pharmacy licence. The establishment also lacked a Clinical Establishment Licence, pollution control board clearance, fire No Objection Certificate (NOC), and other mandatory approvals. Furthermore, employees working at the facility were found without valid health cards. Although the establishment claims to operate as a 30-bed hospital, no valid legal documentation supporting this claim was produced during the inspection.

Public Health Concerns

Dr Bhagwat emphasised that the continued operation of the ayurveda and panchakarma centre in violation of legal requirements poses a significant risk to public health. The council has called for immediate action to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
