Tandoori Roti Maker Arrested in Aligarh for Allegedly Spitting on Chapatis
A shocking incident has come to light in Aligarh, where a 30-year-old tandoori roti maker was arrested after a video surfaced showing him allegedly spitting on chapatis before placing them in a tandoor. The incident occurred at a roadside eatery located in the Telipada locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Roravar police station. This arrest took place on Saturday, highlighting serious concerns about food safety and hygiene practices in local establishments.
Second Such Incident Reported Within 10 Days
This is the second case of its kind reported in the Aligarh district within a span of just 10 days, raising alarms about recurring violations in the food industry. Authorities are now intensifying their scrutiny to prevent such occurrences from happening again. The police, in collaboration with officials from the Food Safety Department, conducted a thorough inspection of the eatery following the emergence of the video.
Legal Action and Charges Filed
A case has been registered under multiple legal provisions, including sections 271 and 272 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Section 271 pertains to negligent acts likely to spread dangerous diseases, while section 272 deals with malignant acts likely to spread diseases dangerous to life. Additionally, section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act has been invoked, underscoring the severity of the health risks involved. The accused, identified as Shoaib Khan, was promptly produced before a court for legal proceedings.
Police Verification and Investigation Details
City circle officer-II Kamlesh Kumar provided details on the investigation, stating that the video was received through multiple platforms and subsequently verified by the police. "After identifying the eatery, we registered a case under the relevant provisions and arrested the individual," he explained. He further added that communication has been initiated with the concerned department to ensure further action against the establishment, including potential penalties or closures based on the findings.
Similar Previous Incident in Kalua Village
In a related case reported on February 12 in Kalua village, which is under the Gabhana police station limits, another man was arrested after a video showed him allegedly spitting on dough while preparing rotis at a hotel. The accused, Nasir Khan, a 25-year-old resident of Kota Khas village, was taken into custody following a complaint filed by local residents. SHO Sachin Kumar confirmed that further legal proceedings are currently underway in this matter as well.
