Bee Swarm Strikes Poets at Cactus Garden in Ratlam District
A sudden and aggressive swarm of bees attacked a gathering of poets and their family members at the Cactus Garden in Sailana town, located in Ratlam district, on Saturday. The incident resulted in injuries to over six individuals, who were promptly transported to the Sailana Community Health Centre for medical attention.
Details of the Attack and Injuries
The victims, primarily poets from Indore, Sanawad, and other regions, had visited the garden following a kavya goshthi (poetry gathering) organized under the Premchand Srijan Peeth in Ratlam. While walking through the scenic garden, they were unexpectedly assaulted by the bee swarm, causing panic and multiple stings.
According to Dr. Shailendra Dange, the Block Medical Officer at Sailana Community Health Centre, those treated for bee stings included:
- Rekha, 59, a resident of Indore
- Sagar, 26, from Indore
- Karulal, 52, from Jaora
- Jayashree, 65, from Indore
- Shishir, 68, from Indore
- Deepak Pagare from Sanawad
- Praveen Atre
All patients received primary treatment at the health centre, with injuries ranging from moderate to minor. Notably, Deepak Pagare and Praveen Atre sustained only minor injuries. Once their conditions stabilized, all individuals were discharged from the facility.
Eyewitness Account and Aftermath
Praveen Atre, one of the injured, recounted the harrowing experience, stating, "The bees attacked while we were walking through the garden." This sudden onslaught disrupted what was intended to be a peaceful post-event visit, turning it into a distressing emergency situation.
The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters in public gardens and underscores the importance of immediate medical response. Local authorities and health officials acted swiftly to ensure the injured received necessary care, preventing any severe complications from the bee stings.
