Shimla: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama underwent a successful left knee replacement surgery at a private hospital in New Delhi on Monday and is recovering well, according to a statement issued by his personal physicians.
Procedure and Recovery
The statement read that the 90-year-old Nobel laureate returned to his hospital room in stable condition after the procedure and remains in good spirits. His recovery is progressing satisfactorily under close medical supervision.
Previous Surgery
Monday's surgery comes nearly two years after the Tibetan leader underwent a successful right knee replacement surgery at a New York hospital in June 2024.
The Dalai Lama, who has been a prominent figure in Tibetan Buddhism and global peace advocacy, continues to receive medical care and support from his team. His doctors have expressed optimism about his recovery trajectory.
