Gurgaon experienced another hot and humid day on Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting an increased likelihood of isolated thunderstorms and rainfall across parts of Haryana over the next three to four days.
Temperature and Humidity Details
The maximum temperature in Gurgaon was recorded at 38 degrees Celsius, up from 37.1 degrees Celsius a day earlier. At the Gurgaon Automatic Weather Station (AWS), the mercury reached 38.1 degrees Celsius compared to 37.4 degrees Celsius on Friday. NorthCap University recorded a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, higher than the previous day's 38.5 degrees Celsius.
Night temperatures also rose marginally across the city. The minimum temperature at Gurgaon KVK settled at 26.7 degrees Celsius, slightly above the 26.6 degrees Celsius recorded on Friday. At NorthCap University, the minimum temperature increased sharply to 27.8 degrees Celsius from 26.7 degrees Celsius, while it remained unchanged at 25.9 degrees Celsius at the Gurgaon AWS.
High humidity added to residents' discomfort. Relative humidity oscillated between 49 percent and 75 percent during the day, creating muggy conditions despite maximum temperatures staying below the 40-degree mark.
Weather Systems and Forecast
According to meteorologists, a western disturbance persists as a cyclonic circulation over north Punjab and adjoining areas, while an upper-air cyclonic circulation lies over East Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions. These weather systems are expected to influence atmospheric conditions over Haryana in the coming days.
The IMD has forecast isolated to scattered rainfall across Haryana over the next three to four days. Light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in the state until June 24.
Officials stated that no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected during the next 48 hours. Thereafter, daytime temperatures are likely to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the following two days before rising again.
Warnings for Specific Districts
Warnings have been issued for Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, and Kurukshetra, where thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and light to moderate rainfall are likely at isolated locations. While no specific weather alert has been issued for Gurgaon, isolated and scattered showers remain possible as atmospheric moisture remains high and weather systems remain favorable for localized rain activity.
"Thunderstorm activity is also likely to be witnessed in the western and southern parts of Haryana. The spell will be accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph expected at isolated places during the period," the IMD said.
