Jaisalmer Bus Fire Tragedy Claims Another Life

The devastating bus fire that occurred in Jaisalmer on October 14 continues to claim lives, with the death toll now rising to 29 after another victim succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. The tragic incident, which happened nearly six weeks ago, has left the community mourning yet another loss.

Victim's Brave Battle Ends

Ubedula, a 50-year-old resident of Gomat village in Pokhran, had been fighting for his life since the horrific accident. Despite being transferred between multiple medical facilities for specialized treatment, he ultimately could not overcome the severe burns he sustained.

The victim's medical journey was extensive and challenging. He was initially taken to Jodhpur for emergency treatment following the accident. When his condition demanded more advanced care, he was transferred to Ahmedabad. However, he was later brought back to Jodhpur and admitted to AIIMS, where he received continuous medical attention until his passing on Sunday.

Community Mourns Respected Professional

Ubedula was not just another statistic in this tragedy. He worked as a senior technical officer at the Central Arid Zone Research Institute in Jaisalmer and was a regular commuter on the ill-fated bus route between Jaisalmer and Pokhran. His daily commute on this same bus made him familiar with the journey that ultimately claimed his life.

Family members brought his body to Gomat village on Sunday evening, where he was laid to rest surrounded by grieving loved ones. Ubedula is survived by his wife and five daughters, who now face life without their primary provider and protector.

The increasing death toll highlights the severity of the October 14 bus fire and raises concerns about road safety measures in the region. As communities across Rajasthan mourn these preventable deaths, questions about vehicle safety standards and emergency response protocols continue to surface.
