Elderly Woman Found Deceased in Kolhapur Apartment, Police Confirm Natural Causes

A 69-year-old woman, residing alone in an apartment in the Gangavesh area of Kolhapur, was discovered dead on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Usha Maruti Bhiungade, who had been living by herself following the passing of her husband in December.

Discovery by Concerned Relative

Bhiungade's nephew, who occasionally assisted her with obtaining medicines and other care needs, grew concerned when she failed to answer her phone calls on Monday. Upon visiting her residence, he found her body in the living room and immediately alerted the authorities.

Police Investigation and Medical Findings

Inspector Shivram Kanherkar of the Laxmipuri police station provided details on the case. "Doctors have confirmed that the woman's death resulted from multiple organ failure," he stated. "She had fluid and pus accumulation in her lungs, which contributed to the condition."

Bhiungade was undergoing treatment for chronic health issues, including high blood pressure and diabetes. Her nephew informed the police that she had recently undergone bypass surgery, indicating a history of serious cardiovascular problems.

No Foul Play Suspected

Authorities have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. "There is no evidence of foul play as per the medical report," Inspector Kanherkar emphasized. The investigation concluded that the death was due to natural causes, stemming from her pre-existing medical conditions.

This incident highlights the vulnerabilities faced by elderly individuals living alone, particularly those with significant health challenges. It underscores the importance of regular check-ins and support systems for senior citizens managing chronic illnesses.
