Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) in Ludhiana has announced a free anti-rabies vaccination and deworming camp for pets and stray animals. The camp will be held on March 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the university's campus.
Camp Details
The initiative aims to control the spread of rabies among animals and humans. Rabies is a fatal viral disease that can be transmitted through bites from infected animals. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the disease.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of GADVASU, emphasized the importance of such camps. “Rabies is a significant public health concern. By vaccinating animals, we protect both animal and human health,” he said.

Dr. Sushma Chhabra, Head of the Department of Epidemiology, stated, “We encourage all pet owners to avail this opportunity. Regular vaccination and deworming are essential for the well-being of animals.”
Community Impact
The camp aligns with the World Health Organization’s goal to eliminate rabies by 2030. GADVASU regularly conducts such camps to raise awareness about zoonotic diseases. The university also offers free treatment for stray animals through its mobile clinic.
