Noida Airport Inauguration: Health Department Activates Comprehensive Emergency Medical Plan

Ahead of the highly anticipated inauguration of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, the health department has formulated an extensive emergency medical response strategy to ensure safety and swift medical assistance during the event. This proactive plan involves the deployment of over 60 ambulances and the alerting of multiple hospitals, highlighting the authorities' commitment to preparedness for large gatherings.

Ambulance Deployment and Hospital Readiness

Officials have confirmed that each ambulance will be staffed with a doctor and a full medical team to provide immediate care. Among the fleet, 49 ambulances will be equipped with basic life support systems, while 16 will feature advanced life-saving facilities, ensuring a tiered response capability for varying medical emergencies.

In addition to the ambulance deployment, 16 hospitals have been placed on high alert to handle any potential crises. This includes 14 private facilities and two government hospitals: the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and the Noida district hospital. These institutions are prepared to receive and treat patients efficiently, with staff trained for rapid intervention.

Preparations and Statements from Health Officials

Deputy chief medical officer of Noida, Chandan Soni, emphasized the thoroughness of the preparations, stating, "Doctors and nurses have been allotted specific duties at the venue to ensure coverage. We have also prepared medicines, first-aid kits, and other essential emergency medical supplies. Our teams are fully ready to tackle any kind of unforeseen circumstances that may arise during the inauguration."

This initiative builds on earlier efforts by the health department, which in June identified hospitals within a 50-kilometer radius of the airport in Greater Noida and Jewar regions to strengthen emergency response protocols. Officials noted that these facilities have received specialized training to manage emergencies, including aircraft-related incidents and mass-casualty situations, enhancing overall readiness.

List of Mapped Hospitals and Strategic Goals

The hospitals mapped during the preparatory exercise include:

  • Kailash Hospital
  • NIIMS Greater Noida
  • Fortis Hospital Greater Noida
  • Yatharth Hospital at Pari Chowk
  • Sharda Hospital
  • Mahanandan Hospital
  • Community health centres in Jewar and Dankaur
  • GIMS

An official explained the strategic intent behind these measures, saying, "The deployment for the inauguration is aimed at ensuring rapid response capability, effective crowd management support, and comprehensive medical preparedness during the event, which is expected to draw large gatherings and high-level dignitaries." This approach underscores the importance of safety in managing high-profile public events, with the health department leveraging local healthcare infrastructure to mitigate risks.
