Food Poisoning Incident in Noida's Dadri Area Hospitalizes 10
In a concerning health scare, at least ten individuals, including nine members of a single family, fell ill after allegedly consuming momos purchased from a local shop in the Dadri area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, Noida. The incident, reported by officials on Thursday, has raised alarms about food safety standards in the region.
Symptoms and Hospitalization
The affected persons began experiencing severe symptoms such as intense stomach pain, high fever, and persistent vomiting shortly after eating the momos on Wednesday evening. All ten patients were promptly admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Dadri for urgent medical attention.
Chief Medical Officer Narendra Kumar confirmed that the individuals exhibited clear signs of food poisoning. "There were 10 persons admitted at CHC, Dadri. They were discharged after treatment. They had symptoms of food poisoning after eating momos," he stated, emphasizing that the medical team provided necessary care before discharging them.
Family Members Among the Affected
Officials revealed that nine of the ten victims belong to the same family, highlighting the localized nature of the outbreak. A local resident, Mohammad Arif, recounted the distressing episode, noting that his family purchased the momos from a nearby shop. "After eating the momos, they developed fever, stomach ache and vomiting," he said, adding that nine of his relatives required hospitalization.
Investigation and Food Safety Measures
In response to the incident, the Food Safety Department has initiated a thorough investigation. Officer Sarvesh Mishra announced that samples from the shop owner's premises have been collected and dispatched to a laboratory for detailed analysis. "Further action will be taken based on the test reports," he assured, indicating that regulatory steps will follow pending the outcomes.
The authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any recurrence and ensure public health safety. This event underscores the critical importance of stringent food hygiene practices and regular inspections of eateries to safeguard community well-being.
