Punjab Government Simplifies Health Scheme Registration Process
The Punjab government has announced a major overhaul of its flagship Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY), removing bureaucratic hurdles to enable instant on-the-spot registration for residents. The new system allows citizens to register using just their Aadhaar card and Punjab voter ID at common service centres (CSCs) across the state.
High-Level Review Meeting and New Initiatives
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh chaired a high-level virtual review meeting with ministers, MLAs, and deputy commissioners to implement these changes. During the meeting, Dr. Singh directed officials to move beyond traditional outreach methods and expand the registration drive significantly.
Any Punjab resident possessing an Aadhaar card and a Punjab voter ID can now simply walk into any CSC or designated registration camp to enrol in the scheme, eliminating previous documentation complexities.
Performance-Based Incentives for CSC Operators
In a significant move to boost efficiency, the health minister unveiled performance-based incentives for village-level entrepreneurs operating CSCs. Top performers will receive preferential employment opportunities within the Punjab government, creating a competitive environment to enhance service delivery.
Statewide Mobilisation Drive for 100% Saturation
To ensure complete coverage, Dr. Balbir Singh launched a massive grassroots mobilisation campaign. He directed all deputy commissioners to activate the state's extensive network of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Anganwadi workers.
These frontline workers will conduct door-to-door campaigns to identify eligible families and guide them to the nearest enrolment centres, ensuring that the most vulnerable populations are not left behind in the health scheme.
The minister emphasized that this comprehensive approach aims to achieve 100% saturation of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, making healthcare accessible to every eligible resident in Punjab through streamlined processes and community engagement.
