PWD Engineer Dies by Suicide at Devarayanadurga Hills

In a tragic incident, a 33-year-old public works department (PWD) engineer died by suicide on Monday after jumping from the hilltop at Devarayanadurga in Tumakuru district. The deceased, identified as Manju Prasad, was reportedly upset over the passing of his mother last year.

Incident Details

Manju Prasad, a resident of Satyamangala in Tumakuru, was employed with the Pavagada PWD. He is survived by his wife and a 10-day-old newborn. According to police, Prasad left home in the morning, telling his wife he was heading to his office in Pavagada. However, he instead visited a relative in Koratagere, which is near Devarayanadurga.

What Happened at the Relative's House

Prasad told his relative that he had come to attend an urgent meeting. Before leaving, he handed over his mobile phone and house key to the relative, which surprised them. The relative then contacted Prasad's family to inform them of the unusual behavior. The family requested the relative to go to Devarayanadurga and check on Prasad's activities.
