Police examined the seized product on a Saturday afternoon, and tests confirmed the presence of rat poison, prompting an immediate consumer alert and notification to HiPP.
While police have not officially confirmed an extortion attempt, authorities believe at least one more poisoned jar may be in circulation. Guidance has been issued to help recognize tampered jars, including checking for damaged or open lids, missing safety seals, unusual odors, or a white sticker with a red circle on the jar's bottom. This warning originated from German investigators, with similar tampered jars seized in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
