Student Dies by Suicide in Rajkot Hostel

A 19-year-old student of R K University in Rajkot allegedly died by suicide in the boys' hostel on the Rajkot-Bhavnagar highway late on Saturday night, police said. Preliminary investigation suggests that emotional distress following a dispute in a romantic relationship may have driven the student to take the extreme step. A case of accidental death has been registered under Section 194 of the BNSS at Aji Dam police station.

Victim Identified

The deceased was identified as Ayush Darade, a native of Pune in Maharashtra and a second-year physiotherapy student at the university.

Incident Details

According to Aji Dam police inspector Haresh Patel, Ayush was residing in room number 715 in the 'C' block of the university's boys' hostel. Around 10 pm on Saturday, fellow students passing by the room noticed him hanging from the ceiling fan and immediately alerted hostel authorities.

University staff rushed to the spot and informed the 108 emergency service. However, the medical team declared Ayush dead on arrival.

Investigation Underway

After receiving information, the Aji Dam police reached the hostel and began investigation. Police sources said Ayush was reportedly in a relationship with a fellow student and had an argument with her two days before the incident. Investigators suspect the dispute may have played a role in the suicide, though police are also probing other possible reasons behind the incident.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further proceedings are underway. Ayush's parents arrived in Rajkot on Sunday after being informed about the tragedy.
