The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) has ordered the immediate closure of Nutan Green Pyrotech Pvt Ltd, a tyre pyrolysis unit located at Mallepally in Sangareddy district. The action was taken for operating without valid permissions and violating environmental and safety norms.
During an inspection conducted on March 23, officials discovered that the unit continued operations even after its temporary permission had expired. The industry had previously received 'stop production orders' in September 2025. Although it was granted temporary permission on January 6, 2026, to resume operations for one month, the company allegedly continued production without seeking revocation of the closure order.
The board also found that the company had installed and operated an additional ABAP-type reactor without obtaining mandatory consent for operation. Officials observed waste oil spillages around storage tanks and noted the absence of leakage collection pits for underground tanks. The flaring system was found to be improper, causing smoke and odour nuisance in the surrounding area.
The inspection further revealed that the unit failed to maintain mandatory logbooks related to water and energy consumption, production, and waste disposal records. The fire hydrant system was defunct, and there were no sensors or alarms to detect flammable vapour leaks. The company had also not applied for extended producer responsibility (EPR) registration on the waste tyre portal.
The violations were reviewed by the task force committee on May 7, following which fresh stop production orders were issued on May 12. Invoking provisions of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, the board directed the company to halt all industrial activities immediately in the interest of public health and environmental protection.
The TGPCB warned that any further operation of the unit would invite criminal prosecution, including imprisonment and fines. This action underscores the board's commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and protecting public health from industrial hazards.
