Vadodara Boy, 5, Attacked by Dog Pack in Subhanpura, VMC Acts After Viral CCTV
A five-year-old boy in Vadodara's Subhanpura area was attacked by a pack of dogs on Wednesday morning, resulting in injuries to his leg and other parts of his body. The alarming incident, captured on CCTV footage, went viral on Thursday, prompting immediate action from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
Details of the Incident
The young boy, a resident of the Gorwa-Subhanpura locality, was walking to school with his grandmother when he briefly left her side to join two schoolmates who were a few steps ahead. In those few seconds alone on the road, a dog first charged at him, followed by others, leading to a vicious attack.
His father, Dr. Gopal Gondaliya, revealed that the boy frequently used the same route to school without any prior incidents. However, a teacher had informed him that another child had been attacked by a dog in the same area approximately two months ago.
Medical Treatment and VMC Response
The boy suffered a deep wound on his leg and minor bites on other parts of his body. He was promptly treated at a medical facility, where he received vaccinations and painkillers to manage his injuries.
Following the viral circulation of the CCTV video, VMC teams swiftly captured a black dog believed to have initiated the attack. The dog will be kept in isolation at the VMC shelter home for observation. Authorities have stated that it will be released back into the area if deemed non-aggressive after the observation period.
This incident has raised concerns about child safety and stray dog management in urban areas, highlighting the need for more proactive measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
