AIIMS New Delhi Launches 'Mother's Nest' Initiative for NICU Mothers
Mothers whose infants are admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at AIIMS New Delhi will soon receive specialized support through a new initiative designed to alleviate the emotional and practical burdens associated with critical newborn care. This programme, named Mother's Nest, was officially launched through a collaborative partnership between the HCLFoundation, AIIMS New Delhi, and the non-profit organization Doctors For You.
Addressing Maternal Challenges in NICU Settings
Under this project, mothers staying with their babies in the NICU will be provided with comprehensive assistance aimed at enhancing their well-being and helping them cope during the stressful hospital stay. Medical professionals emphasize that mothers of critically ill newborns often endure long hours in hospitals, facing significant emotional, physical, and logistical challenges while their infants undergo intensive treatment.
The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed at AIIMS on Friday. The agreement was signed by key representatives, including:
