AIIMS Mangalagiri: Symbol of Quality Healthcare in AP

AIIMS Mangalagiri has emerged as a beacon of accessible and high-quality healthcare in Andhra Pradesh, showcasing the developmental milestones achieved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12-year leadership, according to Lanka Dinakar, chairman of the Twenty Point Programme (Viksit Bharat–Swarna Andhra Pradesh).

During his visit to the institute, Dinakar assessed the healthcare services, engaged with patients and their attendants, and inspected the advanced medical treatments available. The visit was part of an initiative to spotlight people-centric development projects and gauge public experiences at major institutions established in the past 12 years. He was accompanied by AIIMS Mangalagiri in-charge director and dean (research) Dr. Joy Ghoshal, dean (academic) Dr. Desu Ram Mohan, senior doctors, and faculty members. Following the inspection, Dinakar held a review meeting on the institute's progress and achievements.

Dinakar noted that the central government established AIIMS Mangalagiri under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, with an investment of ₹1,618 crore on 183 acres of land. Construction commenced in 2015 and was completed by 2019, after which healthcare services were made available to the public. He highlighted that the institute, which ranked last among AIIMS institutions in the country when operations began in 2019, has now climbed to the 8th position. According to AIIMS officials, the hospital currently serves around 4,000 outpatients daily, with a registration fee of just ₹10. Nearly 9.85 lakh patients received outpatient services during 2025-26, and the number is expected to surpass 10 lakh this year. Since its inception, 35.26 lakh patients have benefited from outpatient services.

Over 80 MRI scans and more than 130 CT scans are performed each day at affordable rates, while emergency patients receive free scanning services.
