Senior diabetologist Dr Sandeep Srivastava has stated that diabetes is not inherently a life-threatening disease and can be effectively managed with timely medical advice and proper treatment. He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Diabetes Karnataka–2026’, a two-day awareness programme organised by the MedBell Global Health Care and Research Foundation in Belagavi on Saturday evening.
Reassurance for Patients
Dr Srivastava emphasised that patients should not succumb to fear or anxiety about the condition. He said, “With confidence, regular monitoring, and a disciplined approach to health, people with diabetes can lead a normal life.” He highlighted the importance of regular exercise, a balanced diet, and a healthy lifestyle in controlling the disease, and commended MedBell Global for organising the large-scale initiative.
Advancements in Medical Technology
Dr Srivastava noted that advancements in medical technology have significantly improved treatment outcomes for diabetes and other chronic conditions. He added, “Early diagnosis and strict adherence to medical advice are crucial. The disease should not be ignored at any stage.” Pointing to rising cases, he attributed the trend to modern lifestyles, stress, and irregular dietary habits. He stressed that individuals must prioritise their health alongside professional commitments, adding that awareness and preventive care are key to building a healthier society.
Renowned Cardiologist’s Perspective
Renowned cardiologist Dr Devi Prasad Shetty underscored the need for increased awareness, regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and medical compliance in managing diabetes. He said, “With cases on the rise, early detection and timely treatment are essential to prevent serious complications.”
Collaboration Among Medical Professionals
MedBell Global president and noted physician Dr Girish Sonwalkar said that collaboration among doctors, exchange of expertise, and scientific discussions play a vital role in improving healthcare quality. He noted that the organisation, founded by Dr Syed, aims to promote knowledge-sharing and introduce medical professionals to emerging technologies and practices.

DCP Narayan Bharamani, the chief guest, observed that both doctors and police personnel operate under intense pressure and require dedication and a strong sense of service. He said, “While money can buy many things, it cannot buy life. Doctors, who save lives, are akin to divine figures.”
