India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Guyana's Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony to discuss advancing bilateral medical cooperation. The meeting, held on the sidelines of a diplomatic event, focused on strengthening ties in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and medical infrastructure.

The two ministers explored opportunities for collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector, including the supply of generic medicines and vaccines. India has been actively engaging with Caribbean nations, offering medical assistance and capacity building. Guyana, a member of CARICOM, has benefited from Indian aid, including the supply of COVID-19 vaccines. The latest talks aim to further institutionalize medical cooperation.
The ministers also discussed potential collaboration in telemedicine, digital health, and traditional medicine. They agreed to follow up with working groups to finalize specific initiatives.
