Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut inaugurated a mobile medical van-based primary and preventive healthcare service at Chansari village in Kullu district on Wednesday. The initiative was launched in collaboration with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and is being operated by the Matrix Society for Social Services. This marks a significant step towards improving rural healthcare access in the region.
Government's Commitment to Last-Mile Healthcare
Speaking at the event, Ranaut stated that extending healthcare facilities to the last person in society is a priority of the Central Government. She emphasized that this mobile health project is a vital step towards translating that commitment into reality, ensuring that every needy individual receives timely medical attention. The MP highlighted the pressing need to deliver timely care to people residing in Himachal's remote, hilly and difficult-to-access areas, where healthcare infrastructure is often limited.
Services Offered by the Mobile Medical Van
Through this mobile medical van, rural communities will gain access to free health check-ups, blood testing, essential medicines and primary treatment services right on their doorsteps. This initiative is expected to bring substantial relief to the poor, elderly, women and marginalised citizens who often have to travel long distances for even basic medical care.
Collaboration and Operational Details
The mobile medical van service is a collaborative effort between the office of the Mandi MP, NHPC and Matrix Society for Social Services. NHPC is providing financial and technical support, while Matrix Society is responsible for day-to-day operations, including deployment of medical staff and management of medicines and equipment.
Impact on Rural Healthcare
According to officials, the van will operate on a fixed schedule, covering multiple villages in the Kullu district on a rotational basis. This ensures that even the most remote hamlets receive regular medical attention. The initiative is part of a broader push by the central government to strengthen primary healthcare in rural India, aligning with the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
