The initiative aimed to recognize the demanding nature of traffic police service and promote physical well-being among personnel.
Health Sessions and Felicitation for Police Personnel
As part of the program, awareness sessions were conducted on critical health topics, including skin health, ear care, and physiotherapy. These sessions were designed to address the unique challenges faced by traffic police, who endure long hours of duty amidst harsh environmental conditions such as air pollution and noise pollution. Approximately 250 police personnel participated in the event, where they were also felicitated and honored by the institution in acknowledgment of their commitment and dedicated service to society.
Key Messages from DCP Ravi Shankar and FMCI Director
DCP (crime and traffic) Ravi Shankar addressed the gathering, urging police personnel to devote time each day to maintain their health and well-being. He emphasized the importance of simple activities like walking, yoga, and stretching for a balanced life. Highlighting road safety concerns, Shankar noted that out of 59 deaths caused by accidents, 29 occurred later during treatment in various hospitals. He stressed the critical need for immediate shifting of accident victims to hospitals and ensuring timely treatment during the golden hour, underlining the importance of strong coordination between traffic police and hospital emergency departments.
FMCI director Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo commended the traffic personnel for their valuable service to road users. He emphasized that the public must cultivate self-discipline and adhere to lane discipline to prevent accidents, reinforcing the collaborative effort required for road safety.
This event underscores the vital role of traffic police in maintaining public order and the importance of supporting their health amidst challenging work conditions.
