AIIMS Deoghar Implants First Permanent Pacemaker Using LBBAP

AIIMS Deoghar has successfully performed its first permanent pacemaker implantation using the advanced Left Bundle Branch Area Pacing (LBBAP) technique, marking a significant advancement in cardiac care for the Santhal Pargana region.

Patient's Condition and Diagnosis

The patient, a 60-year-old woman from Deoghar, experienced recurrent dizziness, near-fainting, and fainting episodes for a month. Her condition deteriorated to the point where she was afraid to leave her home. Medical investigations revealed she had Sick Sinus Syndrome, a condition where the heart's natural pacemaker fails to maintain a normal rhythm. Initially diagnosed at another hospital, she was referred to AIIMS Deoghar for specialized treatment.

Procedure and Outcome

The cardiology team, led by Dr. C B Pandey and Dr. Smarakranjan Rout, performed the implantation. After the procedure, the woman showed marked improvement, became symptom-free, and was discharged in stable condition on Saturday.
