Former IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur Hospitalized in Lucknow with Chest Pain
Ex-IPS Amitabh Thakur Admitted to SGPGIMS Lucknow

Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Amitabh Thakur was rushed to a premier medical institute in Lucknow in the early hours of Thursday after reporting severe chest discomfort. The ex-officer, currently involved in a legal case, is now under specialized cardiac care.

Stable Condition Under Close Monitoring

Amitabh Thakur was admitted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of the cardiology department at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). Hospital authorities, including Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Devendra Gupta, have confirmed that his health condition is currently stable.

He is receiving treatment under the supervision of cardiologist Dr. Roopali Khanna. The medical team is conducting a series of crucial investigations to determine the exact cause of his symptoms. These tests include:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Echocardiography
  • Comprehensive blood tests

Doctors have stated that his further treatment and observation in the coming days will depend on the results of these ongoing tests and his clinical response.

A Medical Journey from Deoria Jail to Lucknow

The health episode began on Tuesday night when Thakur, who was lodged in the Deoria district jail in connection with a cheating case, complained of chest pain and a feeling of heaviness. In response, the jail authorities first took him to the emergency ward of the Maharshi Deoraha Baba Medical College in Deoria.

As his condition did not show significant improvement, he was referred to Gorakhpur Medical College for a more advanced evaluation. However, with his health not improving there either, the doctors made the decision to transfer him to SGPGIMS in Lucknow for specialized cardiac care. He was referred on Wednesday night and reached Lucknow in the early hours of Thursday, where he was admitted immediately.

What Happens Next?

The focus now is on precise diagnosis and stabilization. The cardiology team at SGPGIMS will analyze all diagnostic reports to chart the future course of treatment. Officials have indicated that he will remain under close watch in the MICU for the next few days as the medical protocol unfolds.

This incident has brought attention to the health of the former IPS officer amidst his ongoing legal proceedings. The hospital administration has assured that he is receiving the best possible care at the tertiary care institute.
