Prayagraj Hospital to Pioneer AI-Enhanced Cardiac Care with New Cath Lab
In a significant development for cardiac healthcare, Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH) in Prayagraj is preparing to inaugurate a state-of-the-art, AI-enabled catheterization laboratory starting in June this year. This advanced facility represents a major leap forward in the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases, leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes.
Advanced Technology for Precision Treatment
The new cath lab incorporates high-definition 3D imaging technology that enables exceptionally accurate visualization of cardiac structures. This AI-powered system is designed to precisely detect arterial blockages and features an intelligent catheter navigation mechanism that minimizes manual errors and reduces radiation exposure during procedures.
Integrated smart software continuously monitors operations in real time, identifying any procedural irregularities instantly. This capability ensures safer and more efficient treatments for patients undergoing cardiac interventions.
Infrastructure and Investment Details
Hospital director Hari Om Singh confirmed that the sophisticated equipment has already been installed at the facility. The cath lab will become fully operational once construction of a dedicated recovery room is completed on the hospital premises.
"This represents the third such AI cath lab facility established in the entire country and marks the first installation of this technology in Uttar Pradesh," Singh stated. "The project involves a substantial investment of approximately Rs 20 crore."

Interestingly, the cath lab equipment arrived ahead of schedule due to global geopolitical considerations. Originally scheduled for delivery via sea transport from Germany in May, the machinery was instead airlifted and reached the hospital on March 29, with installation following promptly.
Medical officials emphasize that the AI cath lab will dramatically improve the accuracy of critical procedures such as stent placements. Advanced features including smooth gantry movement and enhanced imaging quality will provide physicians with greater flexibility and precision during surgical operations.
