In a significant push towards public health, the Assam Lok Bhavan organized a comprehensive health camp on Tuesday, focusing on the mission for a tuberculosis-free India. The event was part of the broader "Lok Bhavan se Lok Seva ki Ore" campaign and was held to commemorate Asom Divas.
Governor Leads Asom Divas Health Initiative
The camp, set up at Uzan Bazar in Guwahati, was spearheaded by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. It was conducted in collaboration with the State Health and Family Welfare Department. A key feature was the deployment of a mobile medical unit at the venue, which facilitated on-the-spot TB screening, general medical consultations, and crucial awareness sessions on prevention and early detection of the disease.
Wide-Ranging Screening for Citizens
The camp witnessed robust participation from the local community. Medical services spanned multiple specialties to address diverse health needs. A total of 203 patients received screenings across various departments, which included:
- Dental
- ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat)
- General Medicine
- Orthopaedics
- Ophthalmology
This multi-specialty approach ensured holistic healthcare access for attendees during the Asom Divas observance.
Lok Bhavan: A Catalyst for Viksit Bharat
Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya emphasized the transformed role of the Raj Bhavan, now envisioned as 'Lok Bhavan'—an institution for the people and their development. He stated that the initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
"Inspired by PM Narendra Modi, we will do our part to remain healthy and contribute to a Viksit Bharat. Lok Bhavan will be a catalyst to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat," Acharya said.
He further urged citizens to make full use of the available health services and to actively participate in nation-building by prioritizing and improving community health standards. The governor's message reinforced the direct link between individual wellness and national progress.
The "TB Mukt Bharat" camp stands as a concrete step in Assam's public health outreach, aligning the state's celebrations with national goals for a developed and healthier India.
