In a significant boost to rural healthcare access, more than 3,600 children underwent comprehensive health screenings during a massive medical camp organized in Assam's Sonai area on Monday. The event marked another successful implementation of the state government's flagship healthcare initiative.
Overwhelming Response to Healthcare Initiative
The mega child health camp conducted at Swadhin Bazar High School in Sonai witnessed an extraordinary turnout from local families. Exactly 3,641 children were registered for medical examinations under the Assam government's Sushrusha Setu programme, demonstrating the critical need for such healthcare services in rural areas.
Local authorities expressed satisfaction with the camp's execution and the community's enthusiastic participation. The event highlighted the growing awareness among rural families about the importance of early disease detection and preventive healthcare for children.
Advanced Screening and Referral System
Medical teams at the camp conducted thorough examinations, with 414 children identified as requiring specialized care and subsequently referred to higher medical centers. This systematic approach ensures that children with complex medical needs receive appropriate follow-up treatment.
Sonai MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya emphasized the comprehensive nature of these health camps, revealing that children can be screened for 59 critical diseases during these initiatives. This extensive screening capability represents a significant advancement in rural healthcare delivery.
Political Leadership Applauds Healthcare Transformation
Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya credited Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's leadership for revolutionizing healthcare accessibility across Assam. He noted that the current administration has successfully transformed healthcare delivery mechanisms, enabling even remote communities to access advanced medical screening facilities.
The Sushrusha Setu programme continues to bridge the healthcare gap between urban and rural populations, bringing sophisticated medical services to doorsteps of families who previously had limited access to such facilities.
This health camp represents the ongoing commitment of the Assam government to improve child health outcomes and reduce disease burden through proactive screening and early intervention strategies.
