Bhavan’s SL School in Amritsar has launched a mobile healthcare initiative called ‘Health Care on Wheels’ to bring basic medical services directly to underserved communities. The air-conditioned van, equipped with two chambers—one for a general physician and another with a dental chair—will visit three designated slum areas twice a week from 10 am to 2 pm.
Free Medical and Dental Services
According to Avinash Mahindroo, Chairman of Bhavans SL School, the project aims to provide free medical consultations, dental check-ups, and medicines to underprivileged residents who cannot afford travel to hospitals. The van will also offer health awareness programmes, preventive healthcare guidance, and referrals to leading doctors for advanced treatment.
Dr Anita Bhalla, Director of Bhavans SL School, stated that the initiative ensures quality healthcare reaches economically weaker sections. The school plans to introduce more vans based on demand.
Schedule and Locations
The mobile clinic will operate at Fezpura Government Primary School and the area behind C Block, Ranjit Avenue, from Monday to Thursday starting July 11. It will also visit Gali Banke Bihari, T-Point, Panna Mill, Batala Road, on Tuesdays and Fridays (July 14 and 16). Additionally, it will be stationed at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan II (No. 22 Phatak) from Wednesday to Saturday (July 15 to 18).
