Mhow Water Contamination Confined to Three Specific Localities

The recent water contamination scare in Mhow has been narrowed down to just three small pockets within Ward No 3 of the town, according to official test reports. Initial investigations had raised concerns about potential contamination in the potable water supply, prompting extensive testing across various localities.

Precautionary Measures Advised for Residents

Despite the limited scope of contamination, authorities have issued a health advisory urging all residents to take necessary precautions. Cantonment Engineer Hari Shankar Kolay emphasized that while laboratory reports from Saturday afternoon indicated that most water samples from both affected and unaffected areas were within permissible limits, it is crucial for residents to consume only boiled or treated water until further tests are completed.

"A large number of water samples were collected from multiple areas and sent for analysis. The results showed that all parameters were under permissible limits in most cases. However, as a safety measure, we advise residents to boil water before consumption and avoid drinking water from bore wells," Kolay stated.

Health Impact and Affected Areas

The contamination issue came to light after approximately 20 residents, all of whom were children, fell ill in the Patti Bazar, Chandar Marg, and Motimahal areas. These localities are the three identified pockets where water samples showed contamination, highlighting the localized nature of the problem.

Authorities have reassured the public that the situation is under control, with ongoing monitoring and testing to ensure water safety. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow the recommended guidelines to prevent any health risks associated with contaminated water.
