According to the health department, 11,441 people sought treatment for fever at various hospitals across the district during the first half of June alone. Mannarkkad taluk has emerged as the worst-affected region, prompting a special alert from the health department.

Comparison with May

Officials noted that while 546 dengue cases were reported during the entire month of May, the district has already recorded 543 cases by the second week of June, indicating a significant surge in infections. In May, around 15,000 people sought treatment for fever-related illnesses.

Despite the increase, health authorities stated there is no need for panic at present. However, they urged the public to strictly follow preventive measures, including eliminating mosquito breeding sites and maintaining cleanliness in and around homes.
