Ranchi: Hundreds of nursing and paramedical staff at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) staged a protest on Monday, demanding the immediate payment of their salaries, which have been pending for the last three months.
Protest Outside Director's Office
The employees, under the banner of the Rims Non-Gazetted Employees Association, gathered outside the director's office. They raised demands for salary payment and the implementation of the old pension scheme (OPS) for them.
Financial Hardship Cited
During the protest, employees alleged that they have not received their salaries for three months, creating severe financial hardship. Many expressed frustration over the delay, which has affected their daily lives and families.
Director's Response
Rims Director Dr. Raj Kumar acknowledged the demands and explained that technical issues have caused the payment hold. He stated, "I have directed officials to resolve the issue at the earliest to ensure payment of their salaries. There is a slight mismatch in the salaries of employees on the Rims website and the Jharkhand government treasury's website. Due to that, the salary could not be withdrawn."
Resolution Efforts
The director assured that steps are being taken to rectify the technical glitch. Employees, however, remain cautious and have threatened further action if the issue is not resolved promptly. The association leaders emphasized that the delay is unacceptable and called for a swift resolution to prevent escalation.
