Thane MP Sounds Alarm Over Mysterious Stray Animal Disappearances
Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske has raised serious concerns about an alleged racket operating in Thane that involves the capture of stray animals and the harvesting of their organs. The parliamentarian made these shocking revelations during a Thane Municipal Corporation event held on Friday afternoon, where he appealed to both municipal administration and police authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Disturbing Pattern of Animal Disappearances
According to Mhaske, he was first alerted about the situation just three days before his public address. The MP described a concerning pattern of unexplained disappearances of stray animals from specific neighborhoods across the city. The alleged operation appears to involve private animal hospitals or unauthorized agencies illegally conducting sterilization drives under suspicious circumstances.
"These groups reportedly arrive in ambulances, pick up strays, and either fail to return them or release them after several days," Mhaske stated while addressing civic officials at the municipal headquarters. The event took place after he flagged off several health-related initiatives in the city, making the timing of his revelation particularly significant.
Municipal Response and Investigation Demands
While speaking to media representatives later, Mhaske clarified that although he hasn't independently verified all the allegations, the seriousness of the claims warranted immediate attention. He has formally urged both the municipal administration and Thane police to launch a comprehensive investigation into these disturbing allegations.
A municipal health department official responded to these claims by stating that while such organ-harvesting allegations are unprecedented in their records, the department would seek additional details from the MP and increase vigilance throughout the city. The official assured that all necessary measures would be taken to address these concerns.
New Initiatives for Animal Welfare
Alongside raising the alarm about the alleged racket, Mhaske also directed the municipal corporation to hire additional contract staff to ensure that upcoming vaccination and sterilization programs are carried out properly and transparently. This move aims to prevent unauthorized agencies from exploiting sterilization drives for potentially malicious purposes.
In a positive development for pet owners, the Sena MP also launched new software for the registration of pet dogs and cats. This digital initiative will enable the secure storage of vaccination records and comprehensive health data for pets, creating a more organized system for animal welfare in Thane.
The combination of these measures represents a significant step toward addressing both the immediate concerns about illegal activities and establishing long-term solutions for animal management in the city.
