Tragic Bus Collision Claims Six Lives in Tenkasi
A devastating head-on collision between two private buses near Idaikal village in Tenkasi district on Monday resulted in at least six fatalities, including five women, leaving several others injured in one of the worst road accidents the region has witnessed recently.

The horrific accident occurred on the busy Thirumangalam-Kollam National Highway when a private bus traveling from Tenkasi to Rajapalayam collided with another bus heading from Sankarankovil to Tenkasi. The impact near Idaikal village was so severe that it caused immediate casualties, with emergency services rushing to the scene within minutes of the incident.
Local residents joined police and fire brigade personnel in a coordinated rescue effort to extract injured passengers from the mangled wreckage of both vehicles. Approximately ten ambulances were deployed to transport the victims to Tenkasi Government Hospital for urgent medical treatment, where doctors worked tirelessly to stabilize the injured.
