Jhansi: The serene morning atmosphere at Maharani Laxmibai Park, located at the foothills of the historic Jhansi Fort, came alive with yoga enthusiasts on the eve of International Yoga Day as a special wellness event was organised amid preparations for the visit of Yogi Adityanath.
Event Organisers and Participants
The programme was organised by The Times of India in collaboration with SR Group of Institutions and supported by Jhansi Orthopaedic Hospital and Elephanta Watch Company. A large number of residents, including regular morning walkers and fitness enthusiasts, participated in the session.
Guided Yoga Session
Guided by Art of Living instructor Kanchan Ahuja, participants practised various yoga postures, breathing exercises and pranayama techniques. Addressing the gathering, Ahuja highlighted the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life. He said regular practice of yoga, breathing exercises and pranayama helps maintain energy levels throughout the day and provides mental and physical balance.
“In today’s fast-paced world, where people face stress, demanding schedules and environmental challenges, yoga plays an important role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and building inner strength,” he said.
Participant Feedback
Participants appreciated the initiative and described the session as motivating and informative. Jyoti Agarwal, a homemaker from the old city area, said the programme encouraged her to continue practising yoga regularly. Surendra Rai said it was a matter of pride that yoga, an ancient Indian tradition, has gained global recognition and that such programmes help promote its benefits among the wider public.
Health Benefits Highlighted
Orthopaedic specialist Gaurav Gupta noted that regular yoga practice can help reduce various musculoskeletal and orthopaedic problems. He praised the initiative for spreading awareness about preventive healthcare through yoga. Vishesh Agarwal also welcomed the event, saying such programmes encourage young people to adopt healthier lifestyles and spend more time on physical well-being rather than excessive social media use.
