Times of India's 'Let's D-Stress' Initiative Debuts in Hyderabad at NALSAR University
In a significant move to foster digital well-being and mindful living among students, The Times of India is launching its national initiative, 'Let's D-Stress', at NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad. The inaugural session, titled 'Let's D-Stress: Campus Conversations', is scheduled to take place at the NALSAR auditorium on Thursday, marking the first edition of this program in the city.
Expert Insights on Screen Time and Cognitive Impact
The program will feature D Charan Teja Koganti, a consultant neuropsychiatrist at KIMS Hospitals and Jade Clinics, who will provide practical perspectives on managing excessive screen time and its cognitive effects. This initiative aims to empower students by helping them:
- Recognize patterns of excessive screen use
- Understand the impact on attention, memory, and reasoning skills
- Explore simple strategies to restore balance in their digital lives
It is particularly relevant for law students, who often face intensive reading schedules and high-performance expectations, making digital well-being a critical aspect of their academic journey.
Addressing Unique Challenges for Law Students
Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor of NALSAR University of Law, emphasized the importance of this initiative. He stated, "Law students today are uniquely burdened. They are trained to consume vast amounts of information and deliver results under high pressure. As young people, they are also exposed to far too much digital noise, from doomscrolling on social media to the screen time required simply to manage their course load."
He further added, "We recognize the cognitive impact of constant screen exposure on students' attention, memory, and reasoning skills, which makes digital well-being an academic necessity, one we can no longer ignore. That is why we are glad to bring The Times of India's 'Let's D-Stress' initiative to NALSAR, with its core focus on navigating these concerns through research-based insights."
Promoting Mindful Living in the Digital Age
This event underscores the growing need to address the mental health challenges posed by excessive digital engagement. By bringing together expert advice and student-focused discussions, the 'Let's D-Stress' initiative seeks to create a supportive environment for developing healthier screen habits. As digital tools become integral to education and daily life, such programs are essential for ensuring that students can thrive academically and personally without compromising their well-being.
The launch in Hyderabad sets a precedent for future editions across other campuses, highlighting The Times of India's commitment to promoting mindful living and stress management in educational settings nationwide.
