Yoga Camp in Srikakulam Marks Yoga Andhra 2026

Visakhapatnam: As part of the ‘Yoga Andhra 2026’ celebrations, a yoga camp was organised on Saturday at Kargil Park in Srikakulam, where a large number of officials, principals and staff members from the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS) participated. Officials said that yoga plays an important role in improving physical fitness and mental well-being, especially for Gurukul school staff who remain busy shaping students’ futures.

During the programme, participants practised various yoga postures and pranayama techniques. Officials said that yoga is an effective way to overcome stress in daily life and encouraged everyone to make it a regular habit.

District coordinator of APSWREIS Y Yashoda Lakshmi, Echerla residential school principal S Padmaja, Duppalavalasa principal B Bucchiraju, Krishna Tara from Tamarapalli, district ayush officer Dr Uttam Raj Rana, noted yoga instructor Murali, teachers and office staff from various residential schools in the district took part in the camp.

Visakhapatnam district collector Abhishikt Kishore said that yoga should become a part of daily routine. As part of the international day of yoga celebrations, yoga programmes are being organised across the district. In this connection, the Tourism Department and Ayush Department jointly organised a yoga event at Rushikonda beach.

District collector Abhishikt Kishore, police commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi, and joint collector Vidyadhari participated in the yoga session. Addressing the gathering, the collector said that yoga contributes significantly to mental well-being, physical fitness and the emotional development of children. He said that major yoga events will be held at Mudasarlova Golf Course on June 15, and at RK Beach on June 21, and appealed to the public to participate in large numbers.

Revenue divisional officer Sangeet Madhur, district tourism officer J Madhavi, ayush department regional deputy director Srinivasulu, along with other district officials and staff members, attended the programme.
