Yoga Day Celebrations Across Kalyana Karnataka
Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts across the Kalyana Karnataka (KK) region marked International Yoga Day on Wednesday with a series of events, including mass yoga demonstrations in schools, colleges, and public spaces. The events were organized by local administrations, yoga institutes, and social organizations to promote the physical and mental benefits of yoga.
Key Events in Kalaburagi and Beyond
In Kalaburagi, the district headquarters, a large gathering took place at the Nehru Stadium, where participants performed various asanas and breathing exercises. Deputy Commissioner V.V. Jyothi, who attended the event, emphasized the importance of yoga in daily life. “Yoga is not just an exercise; it is a way to achieve harmony between body and mind,” she said. Similar events were held in Bidar, Raichur, and Yadgir districts, with students and teachers actively participating.
Schools and Colleges Join the Movement
Educational institutions played a significant role in the celebrations. At the Government High School in Shahapur, over 200 students performed yoga postures under the guidance of trained instructors. The school principal, Shashikala Patil, noted that yoga sessions have been integrated into the school's morning routine since last year. “Students have shown improved concentration and reduced stress levels,” she added.
Community Participation and Awareness
Local organizations also conducted awareness campaigns about the benefits of yoga. The Art of Living Foundation held a session at the Kalaburagi City Corporation, where participants learned stress management techniques through yoga. A participant, Ramesh Kulkarni, a 45-year-old bank employee, shared his experience: “I have been practicing yoga for three years, and it has helped me control my blood pressure and improve my sleep.”
Government Support and Future Plans
The state government has been promoting yoga through various initiatives. The Karnataka Yoga Mission has trained over 10,000 instructors in the past five years, aiming to make yoga accessible to all. Officials announced plans to set up yoga centers in all 30 districts of the state, with special focus on rural areas. The event in Kalyana Karnataka was part of a larger state-wide celebration, with over 50,000 people participating across the region.
