21,000 Kids Recite Gita in Kurukshetra, Holiday Announced

A monumental event of spiritual harmony unfolded in Kurukshetra on Monday, where the sacred verses of the Bhagavad Gita resonated from the voices of thousands. As part of the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav, a historic Global Gita Path was organized at Keshav Park, creating a divine and unforgettable spectacle.

A Divine Chorus of 21,000 Voices

The centerpiece of the event was the mass recitation by 21,000 school children, who chanted the Gita's shlokas in perfect unison. The collective recitation transformed the atmosphere, filling it with devotion and a profound sense of spirituality. The scale of participation was unprecedented, beautifully embodying the ancient Indian principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' – the world is one family.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini graced the occasion and made a significant announcement for the young participants. Recognizing their dedication, he declared a special holiday on Tuesday for all the school students who took part in the grand recital. The event was also attended by prominent spiritual figures, including yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj.

CM Highlights Spiritual and Scientific Significance

Extending his greetings on the auspicious occasions of Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi and Gita Jayanti, CM Saini offered prayers for Lord Krishna to illuminate every citizen's life with knowledge. He reminded the gathering that it was on this sacred date, 5,163 years ago, that Lord Krishna imparted the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.

The Chief Minister expressed immense pride as the sky echoed with the chanting of Ashtadashi verses by the 21,000 students. He noted that similar recitations were happening simultaneously across India and in numerous other countries, marking a truly global celebration.

He further elaborated that the significance of reciting the Gita extends beyond religion. The practice also holds scientific value. The positive sound waves generated from chanting Vedic mantras and Gita shlokas are known to bring peace to the mind, instill moral values, and energize the individual.

Prime Minister's Role in Globalizing Gita Jayanti

Chief Minister Saini credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating Gita Jayanti to a global platform. He recalled a pivotal moment from September 19, 2014, when PM Modi, during his first US visit, presented the book 'The Gita According to Gandhi' by Mahadev Desai to then US President Barack Obama.

Inspired by this diplomatic and cultural gesture, the annual international celebration of Gita Jayanti commenced in 2016. Since then, the festival has grown exponentially, attracting millions of devotees and participants from a multitude of nations.

The CM also mentioned that on November 25, the Prime Minister attended the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra and inaugurated the Mahabharata-themed Anubhav Kendra. Later, on November 28 in Udupi, Karnataka, PM Modi encouraged people nationwide to visit this experiential center. Under his visionary leadership, the International Gita Mahotsav has truly achieved a global stature, spreading the universal message of the sacred text far and wide.
