The city of Vijayawada is set to host the 102nd Gunadala Lurthamatha Mahaotsavalu, a three-day spiritual extravaganza commencing on Monday at the revered Gunadala Matha shrine. Over five lakh devotees are anticipated to participate in this annual festival, marking a significant religious gathering in the region.

Inauguration and Spiritual Leadership

The festival will be formally inaugurated at 7 am on Monday by Bishop Joseph Rajarao. He will be joined by prominent religious figures including Father Meshapam Gabriel, Father Muvvala Prasad, Father Yeleti William Jayaraju Swamy, Father Thota Sunil Raju, Father Kolakani Marianna, and Father G Kiran, along with other diocesan priests, ensuring a blessed and solemn commencement.

Festive Ambiance and Illuminations

In preparation for the event, the hill and shrine premises, along with the Bishop Grassi High School Ground and surrounding areas, have been brilliantly illuminated with electric lights. This creates a festive spiritual ambiance, enhancing the devotional experience for all attendees.

Comprehensive Arrangements for Devotees

To manage the large influx of pilgrims, authorities have implemented extensive measures. Huge barricades have been erected along the hill road, Eluru Road, and near the Gunadala Matha Shrine to prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement. A coordinated effort by officials from the police, revenue, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), medical, fire services, and other government departments has led to comprehensive facilities, including:

  • Security: Enhanced patrols and surveillance for safety.
  • Sanitation: Cleanliness drives to maintain hygiene.
  • Drinking Water: Adequate water supply points.
  • Healthcare: Medical camps and emergency services on standby.
  • Emergency Services: Fire and rescue teams deployed.

Special Features and Travel Facilities

The sacred art platform at Bishop Grassi High School Ground has been beautifully decorated, allowing devotees to witness holy puja programmes scheduled for February 9, 10, and 11. Additionally, RTC and railway authorities have announced special arrangements to facilitate travel for devotees during the Mahotsavams, ensuring convenient access to the festival site.

This grand celebration not only highlights the spiritual fervor of Vijayawada but also showcases the collaborative efforts of local authorities to host a safe and memorable event for all participants.
