Vijayakumar Raghavendran, president of the APR Villa Owners' Welfare Association, explained the motivation behind this unique initiative. "We are a cosmopolitan neighborhood with people from different parts of the country who have settled here. We chose to celebrate Republic Day in a grand way to promote the spirit of unity and showcase our diverse cultural backgrounds," he said.
The Day's Festivities and Performances
The celebrations commenced with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by the collective singing of the national anthem and various patriotic songs. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the cultural parade, which brought together sights, sounds, and stories from across the nation.
The procession featured:

- Assam's representation through elegant Mekhela Chadors and traditional bamboo Jaapis
- Gujarat's contribution including vibrant Garba dances, colorful kites, and tributes to Mahatma Gandhi
- Odisha's celebration featuring Rath Yatra themes and folk dances
- Residents from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh adding their own cultural elements including miniature monuments, traditional puppetry, and classical performances
