Divine Dog Bhairav Returns to Bijnor Temple After Successful Treatment in Delhi
Nandpur village in Bijnor district was enveloped in a wave of devotion and jubilation as thousands of residents flocked to the local Hanuman temple on Wednesday. The cause for celebration was the return of Bhairav, a dog revered as divine by the villagers, after he spent two weeks undergoing intensive treatment at an animal hospital in Delhi.
Grand Celebrations and Plans for the Future
Men and women, dressed in their finest attire, thronged the temple premises to catch a glimpse, or darshan, of Bhairav. The atmosphere was electric with happiness and prayers, as the community made grand plans to honor his recovery. Villagers announced intentions to organize a large bhandara (community feast) and a yatra (procession) in his honor. Additionally, it was declared that a weekly darbar would be held at the Hanuman temple every Saturday to celebrate Bhairav's presence.
Critical Role of NGO in Saving Bhairav's Life
The villagers expressed profound gratitude towards the NGO team whose swift actions were instrumental in saving Bhairav's life. Ashwani Chitransh, trustee of the Anand Charitable Trust in Bijnor, provided details of the medical intervention. Bhairav was treated at Max Pet Hospital in Delhi, where he was discharged after showing rapid improvement from a severe tick-borne infection that had caused neurological issues.
Dr. Sandhya Rastogi, another trustee, highlighted that her trust operates Prem Path, a shelter housing over 145 stray dogs and eight monkeys. This facility played a key role in the initial rescue efforts.
Ongoing Care and Adoption Arrangements
Bhairav's recovery is not yet complete. He will continue his medications for at least three more weeks, with the NGO team closely monitoring his health and diet during this period. To ensure his long-term well-being, a local villager, Ashwani Saini, who runs a shop near the temple, has formally adopted Bhairav. All necessary procedures have been completed, and Saini will take primary responsibility for his care.
The NGO team will maintain regular contact to oversee proper treatment and care. For now, Bhairav will be allowed to stay in and around the temple premises, a place he has come to call home.
The Divine Journey of Bhairav
According to villagers, Bhairav first appeared near the temple on the afternoon of January 11. In a remarkable display of devotion, from the early hours of January 12 until January 18, he was observed circumambulating the idol of Lord Hanuman inside the temple. During this period, villagers offered prayers for his health and organized melas (fairs) at the temple.
When Bhairav's condition worsened to the point where he could no longer stand, activists rescued him in the dead of night and transported him to an animal shelter in Noida, initiating the chain of events that led to his treatment in Delhi and eventual return.
