Historic Chowk Procession Marks 70 Years of Tradition
The iconic 70-year-old Chowk procession commenced from the revered Koneshwar temple, embarking on a culturally rich route that included Kamla Nehru Marg, Medical Crossing, Victoria Street, Akbari Gate, and the Tehseen mosque before concluding its journey back at Chowk. Along the way, talented folk singers performed traditional songs, while local residents warmly welcomed the procession with flowers, beautifully exemplifying Lucknow's renowned 'Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb' – the city's unique cultural synthesis and communal harmony.
Chaupatiyan Procession Draws Similar Enthusiastic Turnout
A parallel celebration unfolded with the 52-year-old Chaupatiyan procession, which began at Kakkar Park and traversed through Akbari Gate, Victoria Street, Medical Crossing, and Chowk before returning to Chaupatiyan via Hardoi Road. This procession mirrored the festive spirit, with participants dancing joyfully to popular Holi songs as horses and camels added to the traditional ambiance.
Traditional Delicacies and Cultural Performances Enhance Festivities
Devotees and participants were generously served traditional sweets including laddoos and gujhiyas, adding a culinary dimension to the celebrations. The Uttarakhand Mahaparishad contributed significantly to the cultural richness by organizing traditional celebrations that commenced with Ganesh Vandana and the devotional rendition of 'Siddhi ke daata vighn vinashak'.
