Union Minister JP Nadda Honors Namdhari Community at Hola Mohalla Festival in Sirsa

Union Cabinet Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda delivered a powerful address at the Hola Mohalla festival in Mastangarh village, Sirsa district, on Friday, celebrating the Namdhari community's profound legacy. He described their traditions as a unique fusion of patriotism, social reform, and spiritual values, underscoring their pivotal role in India's historical narrative.

Historical Sacrifices and National Contributions

Nadda emphasized that the community's history is rich with sacrifice, dedication, and struggle, forming a crucial chapter in India's glorious past. He praised their notable efforts in social reforms, including stopping cow slaughter, promoting education, encouraging de-addiction, and extensive social service. The minister highlighted how members provided critical assistance during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, earthquakes, and floods, showcasing their unwavering commitment to societal welfare.

Significance of Hola Mohalla and Spiritual Awakening

Explaining the festival's origins, Nadda noted that the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, introduced Hola Mohalla as a tradition linked to Holi. He stressed that the event transcends mere colors, symbolizing bravery, discipline, and spiritual awakening. This perspective reinforces the festival's deeper cultural and religious importance beyond its festive aspects.

Government Initiatives and Tributes to Sikh Heritage

Nadda announced that the Government of India has decided to observe Veer Bal Diwas annually in memory of the brave children of Sikh history, ensuring future generations remember their courage and sacrifice. He paid tribute to Satguru Udai Singh and called for strengthening unity, harmony, and spiritual values across the country. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the central government is actively working to integrate the Sikh community's contributions into the national mainstream.

Satguru Udai Singh's Address on Women's Rights and Social Reform

In his speech, Satguru Udai Singh emphasized that gurus and spiritual leaders belong to the entire world, not just a single community. He highlighted the contributions of Satguru Ram Singh, particularly in advancing women's rights. At a time when social evils like female infanticide were rampant, Satguru Ram Singh strongly opposed the practice, declaring that those involved would not be accepted in the Sangat. He also revived the tradition of widow remarriage, granted women the right to live with dignity, and initiated the practice of giving Amrit to women, ensuring religious equality with men.

Dignitaries Present and Community Impact

The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana and BJP State President Mohanlal Badoli, alongside Nadda as the chief guest. Their presence underscored the political and social recognition of the Namdhari community's enduring impact. The gathering served as a platform to honor the community's past achievements while inspiring continued efforts toward social harmony and national unity.
