Navrachana University Spring Exhibition Showcases Ecology Designs

The School of Environmental Design and Architecture (SEDA) at Navrachana University in Vadodara has inaugurated its Spring 2026 semester-end exhibition. This showcase highlights the design and academic work of approximately 500 students enrolled in architecture and design programmes.

Exhibition Details

The exhibition, organized by SEDA, features projects from students of the Bachelor of Architecture, BDesign (Interior), and BDesign (Product Design and Visual Communication) programs. Over the four-month semester, students created nearly 1,500 models and around 2,000 drawings, all of which are now on display. The projects encompass a wide range of subjects, including studio design, construction, history, visualisation, theory, research, workshops, and electives.

Key Themes

A major highlight of the exhibition is the focus on upcycling and recycling everyday materials to create new products through re-purposing. Another prominent theme is ecologically responsive architecture tailored for environmentally sensitive regions. Additionally, several projects address urban challenges such as the lack of public spaces, inadequate pedestrian infrastructure, and the need for areas that foster community interaction. Students presented innovative ideas aimed at improving the quality of public spaces between and around buildings, with a strong emphasis on people-centric design.

Tejal Amin, chairperson of the Navrachana Education Society, praised the exhibition, stating, "This year's Spring Semester Exhibition showcases excellent work undertaken by our students of SEDA, exhibiting some of the finest and most relevant projects for its time." Pratyush Shankar, provost of the university and dean of SEDA, noted that the projects help build awareness and sensitivity towards ecology, society, re-purposing, and inclusive public spaces.

The exhibition opened on Wednesday evening and will remain open to the public on Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm. As part of the event, a guest lecture by Venkat Srinivasan of the Milli Archives Foundation has also been organized.

This exhibition not only demonstrates the creativity and technical skills of the students but also underscores the importance of sustainable design and community-focused urban planning. The event provides a platform for emerging designers and architects to present their ideas to the public and industry professionals alike.
